Home care is funded three ways in Scotland: privately, through Free Personal Care, or via Self-Directed Support. Free Personal Care covers assessed personal care needs at any age. SDS Options 1 and 2 let you choose your own provider. Private hours can top up any council package. Eidyn Care publishes transparent pricing at your free assessment.

We quote a clear hourly rate at your free assessment, with visits from one hour. Longer visits, overnight care (sleepover or waking night), 24-hour rotas and live-in care are quoted individually because they depend on the mix of support — but always in writing, before care begins, with no hidden extras.

Funding routes
Personal care — washing, dressing, medication, meals — is free at any age for assessed needs. Apply via your council’s social work team. Council budgets cap funded hours.

Worth knowing
our things drive cost: hours per week, time of day (waking nights cost more than daytime visits), complexity of care, and location. What shouldn’t drive cost is opacity — if a provider won’t give you a straight rate, ask why.
One comparison worth making early: for higher needs, live-in care is often comparable in cost to a good care home for one person — and much better value for a couple, who can stay together at home.

Hourly home care in Scotland typically runs from the high £20s to mid £30s per hour depending on provider, visit length and time of day. We publish our current rate at assessment and never surprise families with hidden charges.
In Scotland, personal care — help with washing, dressing, eating, medication — is free for anyone assessed by their council as needing it, at any age. It doesn’t cover companionship or housework, and council budgets cap the hours funded.
