What do Social Care Staff do for Social Events During Covid?
Our Home Care Assistants (aka Eidyn Angels) work so hard to deliver outstanding care to our clients, however working in social care can be demanding, and our carers spend a lot of time working solo. That’s why our dedicated social committee ensure that our team can relax, have fun, and spend time catching up with their colleagues at our monthly socials!
Over the last 2 years, it has been more challenging to organise social events due to COVID-19. However, our social committee have worked extra hard to plan out social events for our team that are socially distanced and COVID-safe, to ensure the health and safety of our staff and clients.
Here’s a rundown of the social events that have taken place over the last couple of months!
Eidyn Care’s March Social – Ghost Tour and Edinburgh Vaults
In March, our carers went in two separate groups to a spooky tour of Greyfriars’s Graveyard and the Edinburgh Vaults.
Our tour began in a pitch-black Greyfriars Graveyard, where we were told stories about Edinburgh’s murderous past and the criminals and dissidents that are buried there. We were then guided down to the Cowgate to visit Edinburgh’s vaults, where we learned about ghost sightings and paranormal activity. Luckily, nobody in our team reported any spooky encounters!
April Social – Eidyn Care visits Bobcat Alpacas
In April, our Home Care Assistants visited Bobcat Alpacas, in Bonaly, Edinburgh for the ‘Alpaca Experience’.
Each carer was buddied-up with an alpaca and taken on a walk in the Pentlands, in the glorious sunshine where we enjoyed fantastic views across Edinburgh. The alpacas were all on their best behaviour, and we all managed to avoid being spat on (except for Becks and Jasmine!).
