Specialist Care

Eidyn Care can provide specialist palliative care is for people living with a life limiting illness where a cure is no longer possible.  It is also for people who have a complex illness and need their symptoms controlled.

We can help with the activities of daily living such as washing and dressing but our expertise lies in recognising and managing complex issues such as pain, nausea and breathlessness; all distressing symptoms associated with a life limiting diagnosis.

The goal of palliative care is to help you and everyone affected by your illness to achieve the best quality of life. You might receive palliative care alongside particular treatments, such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

Palliative care:

  • improves quality of life
  • provides relief from pain and other distressing symptoms
  • supports life and regards dying as a normal process
  • doesn’t quicken or postpone death
  • combines psychological and spiritual aspects of care
  • offers a support system to help people live as actively as possible until death
  • offers a support system to help the family cope during a person’s illness and in bereavement
  • uses a team approach to address the needs of the person who is ill and their families
  • also applies to the earlier stages of illness, alongside other therapies that are aimed at prolonging life

Working in partnership with other healthcare providers

If you or your loved one has been given a life limiting diagnosis you will access palliative care through your GP, district nurses, hospice, community palliative care nurse and various other areas depending on your specific illness and needs.  Eidyn Care Limited recognises how important all these experts are and does not wish to create a stand-alone service but rather our palliative caregivers will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary teams and work together to ensure your journey is dignified; symptoms are well controlled and you receive the best possible care.

Sensitive and dedicated caregivers

Providing the right palliative care requires very particular qualities. Our caregivers are experienced in assisting clients to realise their full potential, they will do this by allowing you time to choose your care, time to talk and time to share how you are feeling. Living with a life limiting diagnosis can be distressing and our caregivers are skilled at providing you and your loved ones with patient and dedicated support.

Palliative care in a hospice or in your own home?

Although palliative care is provided by hospices and also in hospitals and nursing homes, many people would prefer to spend their final months of life in their own home.  Eidyn Care enables you to have your wishes upheld and receive the care you need in familiar surroundings, with close family members in regular attendance. Our service embraces both personal care and emotional and spiritual support – for the family, as well as for the person being cared for.
