Sleep in the Park

Living with dementia is a profoundly challenging experience for individuals and their loved ones. Opting for care at home can significantly alleviate these challenges, offering a beacon of support and comfort. Here are key benefits of this compassionate choice:

Familiar Environment: Staying at home allows individuals with dementia to remain in a familiar setting, reducing confusion and agitation. Familiar surroundings can help in retaining memories and provide a sense of security and comfort.

Personalized Care: Home care is inherently personalized, tailored to the unique needs, preferences, and routines of the individual. This customized approach ensures that care is as effective and comforting as possible, catering directly to the specific requirements of someone living with Alzheimer's or dementia.

Continuous Support and Companionship: Home care provides consistent companionship, critical for mitigating feelings of loneliness and isolation. Caregivers can become trusted friends, offering emotional support and engaging in meaningful activities that stimulate cognitive functions and social interaction.

Flexibility and Adaptability: As dementia progresses, needs change. Care at home offers the flexibility to adjust care plans on an as-needed basis, ensuring the level of care provided evolves in tandem with the individual's condition.

Support for Families: Beyond the direct benefits to the individual, home care eases the emotional and logistical burdens on families. Knowing a loved one is receiving compassionate, professional care at home offers peace of mind and allows families to focus on spending quality time together rather than the stresses of caregiving.

Care at home for dementia sufferers underscores the importance of compassion, comfort, and personalized support, making a profound difference in the lives of those navigating the complexities of dementia.

On the 9th December 2017, Andy, Rebecca and an Eidyn Care client participated in the Sleep In The Park where temperatures dipped to minus 5 in Princes Street Gardens whilst we slept under the stars.

The aim of Sleep in the Park is to try and eradicate homelessness across Scotland but sleeping out under the stars and raising much needed funds that can be challenged into various initiatives.

One of our client’s has wanted to do it but felt she needed a little bit of assistance to be able to participate. As we are a person centered care service we decided that we would support her in her endeavour and would freeze together in an effort to raise awareness and funds.

Although a slightly uncomfortable night for us, we were able raise an amazing £1400 for the homeless! Thank you to all who supported us!

It really brought it home on nights like that when there is snow on the ground and people are still sleeping rough in this day and age ? please look out for anyone you see who is homeless. Have a chat. Ask them what they need and if you can help please do. To notice them and treat them with dignity and respect will help them get through the long days. Keep safe ❄️❤️❄️
