What else makes Edinburgh a fantastic place to live?

  • Edinburgh schools are rated among the BEST in the whole of Scotland!

  • Edinburgh is the world’s leading festival city

  • Edinburgh is the home of Harry Potter!

  • Edinburgh has ranked as one of the BEST cities in the UK to raise children

Existing Polish Community

We spoke to Beata, one of our Assistant Care Team Leads, about her experiences as a Polish person living in Edinburgh

Is there much of a Polish Community in Edinburgh?

“There is a really big Polish Community in Edinburgh. It’s easy to reach out to the Polish Community for help – even if just to set up Polish channels on your TV!

There are lots of Polish restaurants and Polish shops, and a couple of Polish Saturday Schools. There is even a Polish medical center just outside of Edinburgh!

At the last WOSP Edinburg event – there were over 4000 attendees!”

What’s it like to drive in Scotland?

“It is easier to drive here than in Poland! You can even use your Polish driver’s license here.

What can I do if I feel homesick?

“In Edinburgh, there are plenty of ways to get yourself settled. But if you do feel homesick, it is so easy these days to take a flight back to Poland and visit. It only takes a few hours!”

The Home Care Assistant role involves traveling between our clients’ homes supporting them in their day-to-day personal care and living tasks.

You will also be helping them with domestic tasks including:

  • Cleaning
  • Meal preparation
  • Laundry
  • Shopping

Providing companionship to our clients is equally important. Part of your role will be assisting our clients to undertake their hobbies and interests, by accompanying them to activities outside of the home such as going for walks or going out for lunch.

Working as a Home Care Assistant, your job will be meaningful and satisfying. And no two days will be the same!
